Can a dead car battery be revived?

A flat or dead car battery doesn’t always mean immediate replacement, but revival depends on the cause and age of the battery.

View The Battery Centre’s car battery replacement

A dead car battery can sometimes be revived if it has simply discharged from lights being left on or the vehicle sitting unused. Recharging with a proper battery charger may restore function. However, batteries that are old, sulphated, or internally damaged rarely recover fully. Jump-starting only provides temporary power and does not restore battery health. If a battery repeatedly goes flat or fails to hold a charge after recharging, replacement is typically required. In practice, most batteries beyond four years old that go flat once tend to fail again soon after. Get your car battery tested at The Battery Centre to see if your battery can still be revived.
