Why car batteries must be recycled
Car batteries contain lead and acid, which are hazardous and illegal to put in household or general waste. Recycling recovers up to 99% of the materials — lead, plastic and acid are all reclaimed and reused — so a single battery is one of the most recyclable products you own.
Never bin a car battery or leave it on the ground. A cracked or leaking battery is a fire and contamination risk. Bring it to us and we'll handle it safely at no charge.

If we're replacing your battery, we take the old one for recycling automatically — you don't have to do anything. If you just need to dispose of one, drop it in during business hours at Summer Hill, Kingsford or Bonnyrigg. No appointment, no fee.

Yes. Drop your old car battery at any of our three Sydney stores for free recycling — there's no charge whether or not you bought it from us.
Can I put a car battery in the bin?
No. Car batteries contain lead and acid and are illegal to dispose of in household or general waste. They must be recycled at a proper collection point like our stores.
Do you take the old battery when you fit a new one?
Yes — when we replace your battery in-store or mobile, we take the old one away for recycling automatically at no extra cost.
