What our battery test checks
Voltage
Open-circuit and under-load voltage. A healthy battery reads 12.6V+; below 12.4V means it needs charging or replacing.
Cold cranking amps
Actual CCA vs the battery's rating — shows whether it can still start your engine, especially on cold mornings.
State of health
A percentage score for overall condition. Below 70% usually means replace soon to avoid being stranded.
Alternator & charging
We check alternator output too — a failing alternator kills a new battery fast, so this matters before you replace anything.
Honest results, no pressure: if your battery is fine or just needs a charge, we'll tell you. We only recommend replacement when it's genuinely needed.
Signs you should get tested
Slow or laboured engine cranking, dashboard battery light, dim headlights at idle, needing a jump-start, or a battery over 3–4 years old are all good reasons to check. If you're already seeing these, read the signs of a dying car battery.

Yes — completely free, no purchase required and no hidden fees. Walk into any of our three Sydney stores during business hours.
How long does it take?
About 5 minutes. You get voltage, CCA, state-of-health and an alternator check, with immediate results and a plain-English explanation.
Do I need an appointment?
No. In-store testing is walk-in. Mobile testing is included free when combined with a service call across the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs.
Do you test the alternator too?
Yes — every test includes a free alternator and charging-system check, because a failing alternator will quickly kill a new battery.
